Happy International Women's Day! This year's theme, " #Embraceequity", reminds us to strive for equity in all aspects of life, including menstrual health.
In this special day, we are happy to share with you that our “Drop Spot — Menstrual Support” project, in collaboration with The Association for the Advancement of Feminism and Saan Sing Sex and Gender Concern Group, has been selected to be shared in the biennial international conference held by the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research (SMCR) this year with other global activists!
The Project was launched in 2022 with support of HERFund to provide free menstrual products to ease the sudden need for such products in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. To explore the possibility of the provision of a menstrual friendly public envrionemnt, 10 period product sharing boxes were set up in the women's restrooms of the Chinese University of Hong Kong libraries and the "Women Workers' Cooperative" in the basement of the main campus. In addition, a menstrual-friendly environment survey in examining how campus facilities consider the needs and perspectives of different genders was conducted, educational and experiential activities like menstrual product sharing events and cloth pad making workshops were also held. With these efforts, we hope a more menstrual-friendly and inclusive environment can be built for people in different needs.
